About
Our Head Winemaker and Master Blender, Charles Symington (4th generation), blended this 80 Year Old Tawny Port to mark the 80th birthday of his father and predecessor, Peter Symington (3rd generation), and celebrate his distinguished career. Such was its immense quality, the decision was taken to bottle and release it on a limited basis.
Tasting
The luxuriantly textured, creamy palate is simultaneously concentrated and gloriously smooth and polished with layers of complexity. There is soft caramel, mandarin orange, quince, praline, vanilla and then some butterscotch on the long aftertaste, which ends on notes of tobacco and black tea. The discreet acidity provides remarkable freshness, grace and balance.
